2nd Floor Views

If you build a 2-story home on a ridgefront lot, these are some of the views you get. The bottom photo is looking east, the middle looks south, the top (taken in the summer, obviously) looks west. The view is truly panoramic, stretching 50 miles to the Saddle Mountains in the south and 50 miles to the Stuart Range in the west. At your feet are alfalfa fields, the lake is across the road. Can't beat it, I don't think.

My Favorite Time of the Day

In the evening everything seems to quiet down and you hear the sprinklers going ch-ch-ch-ch-ch. The sound of summer, the sound of crops slowly maturing in the sun. All's well.

That's Ethan down there in the field changing a length of handline.

About Thyme

Last spring I planted some desert succulents - sedums, creeping thyme, etc - in front of the vineyard sign. They spread quickly and the colors this time of year are spectacular. I'm rooting for the purple thyme to take over, so I'll only water that this summer.

Sunset Through the Vines

Isn't that a Boz Scaggs song? Oh wait, that's "Moonlight Through the Pines"

Big Sky Over Cayuse

"Grapes love the sight of water."

Who wouldn't want to live here?!

Lazy Summer at Cayuse

An exquisite couple of days out on the property. Weather was perfect. I wasn't too motivated to work, so took alot of photos. More on flicker

Making Hay While the Sun Shines

Neighbor Travis baled the season's first cut of alfalfa. Lovely sight laying down there in the morning light.

Spring Weather Four Hours Later

By sunset all was forgiven.

Spring Weather at Cayuse

A spring front blew through while I was up on the plateau plotting vineyard rows. Pretty dramatic.

A couple of big hawks floated over to check out the progress (and maybe to see if I was scaring up any critters).

An Early Spring at Cayuse

Another sparkling day up on the plateau. The guy at the lumber store said he wished it wouldn't get any warmer. It's only the middle of March.

Vineyard Irrigation System

The vineyard irrigation system went in this week.
Foggy mornings, but by mid-afternoon... just another sunny day east of the mountains.
